
Westwood College was founded in Denver, Colorado in 1953. Westwood currently has 17 campus locations throughout the United States as well as an online learning division. Westwood specializes in career-focused programs designed to assist students in achieving employment within their field of study. Westwood currently employees over 3,000 full-time employees and serves over 15,000 students. Each Westwood College campus is nationally accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC) or the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS), both of which are recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Westwood is fully authorized to award associate's, bachelor's, and master's degrees.
Westwood offers several degrees and majors within their seven schools. The schools that make up Westwood include the School of Technology, School of Design, School of Business, School of Justice, School of Health Care, School of Industrial Design, and the School of Professional Studies. Majors include interior design, business management, fashion interior design, marketing, web design, accounting, medical assisting, criminal justice, and construction management.
The fashion interior design program at Westwood is a bachelor’s degree program designed to teach students the skills and knowledge needed to become an interior designer. The program is a mixture of hands-on and theoretical learning. Students will learn the historical background of interior design as well as current trends. Students will be taught about the principles of space planning, drafting, lighting, color, safety and building codes, and business practices. Courses include Basic Drafting, Residential CAD Design, Commercial CAD Design, Space Planning, Lighting, Digital Walkthrough, Visualization and Portfolio, Residential Interiors, and Commercial Interiors.
Once the program is completed students will be able to demonstrate a fundamental understanding of the interior design profession, put to practice business and marketing principles to establish and grow an interior design business, formulate design concepts for clients, and show a fundamental proficiency of AutoDesk, AutoCAD, and other software programs.
