The Art Institutes

The Art Institutes is a large system of over 40 schools that specialize in creative arts education. Each campus is regionally accredited to grant degrees and certificates. Every Art Institute campus is recognized by the United States Department of Education. Areas of study at the Art Institutes include advertising, graphic arts, industrial design, interior design, animation, audio, video, and film production, game design and programming, photography, web design and interactive media, fashion design, fashion management, and culinary arts. The curriculum for each program is designed by industry professionals and top employers in a hands-on, career-focused manner that provides students with the skills needed to gain employment in their desired field.

The Fashion Design program at the Art Institutes focuses on teaching students about fashion design on a global scale. Students will gain experience working with clothing designers learning the production process of clothing lines, as well as how clothing and accessories are made and sold. Courses include patternmaking, illustration, construction, and sewing. To learn the material students use cutting edge fashion design software and information systems that are common within the industry. Besides learning the technical and business aspects of fashion design, students are also encouraged to be creative and stay on the cutting edge of the fashion industry

The Fashion Management program focuses on teaching students skills such as coordinating a fashion show, creating window and floor displays at department stores, and how to buy clothes from distributors and manufacturers. Students learn how the fashion supply chain operates as well as marketing and promotion. Typical jobs include buyers, retail managers, and fashion coordinators.

Upon graduation, each student receives job placement assistance in the form of interview assistance, resume preparation, and networking. Career center staff members help prepare students to put their best foot forward to help them obtain a new career position.
