Kaplan Career Institute is a career-focused training school that specializes in short-term degrees and certificates in industry specific occupations. As part of the vast Kaplan educational system, there are nine Kaplan Career Institute campus locations in six states. Kaplan Career Institute is fully accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools, which is a nationally recognized accrediting agency by the United States Department of Education.

The programs are designed to be completed in a short time whether students attend part-time or full-time. Schedules are offered at flexible times and focus on the specific skills needed to gain employment in the chosen field.

Kaplan Career Institute offers several dozen majors including dental assistant, medical assisting, medical billing and coding, medical office specialist, medical practice management, occupational therapy assistant, pharmacy technician, accounting management, business management, business administration, fashion merchandising, criminal justice, paralegal, computer networking technology, computer support technology, and several trade occupations.

The fashion merchandising program is an associate's degree program that is offered at the ICM campus in Pennsylvania. The program is a combination of hands-on and theoretical learning that provides students with a well-rounded education. The faculty that teach the courses offer their teaching expertise along with real world industry experience. Students learn skills and concepts such as fashion history, fashion supply chain management, fashion trend forecasting, sales promotion and marketing, display creation, fashion event planning, inventory control, textiles, and purchasing. Students who complete the degree are prepared for entry-level positions such as retail managers, fashion consultants, merchandisers, stylists, corporate buyers, and fashion forecasters.

Kaplan Career Institute also offers all students career placement services. Students are taught the critical skills of interviewing, resume and cover letter writing, professional conduct, professional attire, networking, and job searching. Although Kaplan Career Institute cannot guarantee students employment, the services can significantly increase chances of securing a career in fashion.
